Physical Science

About the Course

This course is an introduction to the main principles of lift, thrust, drag and weight and will engage students in activities to test and collect data. This course is ideal for middle school students interested in physics. Students will work with potential and kinetic energy, cars and ramps, kites, hot air balloons, rubber band powered gliders, launchers, boomerangs, data collection and analysis. It will be primarily a hands on class, with approximately 20% lecture/notes, 15% math, 45% activity and 20% data analysis. There will be no homework in this class.

Your Instructor

Jeanne Robinson

Jeanne is the Director/Co-founder of Cheverly STEM. She is a seasoned homeschooling mom of seven children. She is a yogi and vegetarian by nature and an engineer by training (UMCP). Jeanne has been working in the field of civil engineering for 30+ years. During which she managed multi-million dollar budgets and supervised thousands of employees - training many of them. Additionally, she and her husband have built home additions, decks and custom furniture, as well as their own geodesic home in Cheverly. She loves working with young people and looks forward to meeting your family.
