Welcome to the Cheverly STEM Education Center!

As much as we love summer, we are already looking forward to the fall. And new this year, we will be accepting 5th grade students for a full line-up of classes on Wednesdays.

Now in our ninth year, we are thrilled to be offering new and exciting classes like forensic science, marine biology, persuasive writing & public speaking, history's mysteries, sociology, creative writing, field biology as well as standard favorites like chemistry, engineering, algebras I & II, biology and anatomy.  Many of our core high school classes, (biology, engineering, chemistry, algebra I and II), will meet two days/week, on both Tue and Thur.

As always our mission is two-fold, (1) to provide courses not typically available to homeschoolers, and (2) to support a unique and diverse community of learners.  Although we are not a school, classes at Cheverly STEM can support the homeschool journey.  Our classes are student-centered and project-based as well as academically rigorous, and are taught by education specialists or professionals in their field.

Course descriptions for new courses are coming soon, as well as additional teacher bios. Registration for classes is open.

Overview

Chv STEM 2022-2023

Still rebuilding from the pandemic, we are back to a full and fabulous course schedule with cool new electives and standard favorites.  A perfect combination of learning disguised as fun.

Cheverly STEM Education Center

The Cheverly STEM Education Center is a non-traditional education program that primarily provides engaging STEM classes that are not typically available to homeschooled students.  Our classes provide structured learning opportunities with a social backdrop all to support the journey of homeschoolers and their families.  We started with engaging science, technology, engineering and math classes, but have added a few cool and complimentary humanities as well.  Our classes are taught by educators and field professionals and are appropriate for students ages 11 thru 18.

Our Students

Our students are typically 6-12 graders.  Unlike typical homeschool cooperatives, Cheverly STEM is a drop-off program.  Our students must be able to navigate through their day from class-to-class, taking notes and participating in class discussions and labs.  Our students are active participants in the learning process.  Our teachers share this goal, by providing engaging classroom activities.  Teachers and students work with collaboration and respect.  Please feel free to schedule a 'shadow day' to see us in action.

Our Teachers

Our teachers are educators and/or field professionals. Many currently working part-time, which allows them to teach with us.  We are fortunate to have such a high-quality faculty.
